Placevo ("we", "us") is a travel app for planning trips, saving places, splitting bills, and sharing your journey. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. By using Placevo you agree to this policy.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address and name, provided when you sign up with Google or email/password (handled by Google Firebase Authentication).
- Profile information — username, display name, profile photo, bio, and home city that you choose to add.
- Content you create — trips, saved places, posts, stories, comments, and the people you follow.
- Location — if you grant permission, your device location is used to show nearby places on the map. You can decline or revoke this in iOS Settings; the app still works.
- Photos & camera — images you choose to post, set as an avatar, or scan as a receipt. Receipt images are processed to read the text and are not stored on our servers.
- Basic technical data — limited diagnostic information needed to operate the service reliably.
How we use your information
- To provide core features: accounts, trip planning, the map, the bill splitter, and the social feed.
- To sync your trips and content across your devices.
- To keep the community safe (e.g. honoring blocks and reviewing reported content).
We do not sell your personal data, we do not show third-party ads, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
Third-party services
We rely on trusted providers to run Placevo, who process data only to provide their service to us:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, and file storage.
- Google Maps — maps and place search.
- Google Gemini — AI that reads trip captions/links and receipt text to extract places and totals. Content sent for processing is not used to identify you.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and associated content at any time by emailing us at oussamasallam@gmail.com; we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
Children
Placevo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. You can also manage location and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above.
